Frequently asked questions
Although we do take personal preference into consideration we want each puppy and family to get the best fit for them. Since we are with them from birth until they leave the nest we are able to evaluate their individual personalities and use that info to find the best match based on their temperment traits.
Our adults are all health tested following OFA's CHIC breed guidelines. For Beagles this includes: hips, thyroid, eyes, MLS and cardiac eval. We also do several genetic tests for breed specific hereditary diseases such as F7, and Lafora Epilepsy and others. Puppies sold as pets will be genetically tested before leaving if it was a pairing with any risk involved due to known or unknown factors. While we try to breed to health tested dogs sometimes the pool of suitors requires us to outsource untested males; In order to mitigate the risk involved with this we fully test all of our breeding dogs at Kvell.
Puppies will be ready to leave the nest at 8 weeks old barring any unforeseen circumstances. If you are unable to get your puppy between 8-10 weeks of age there will be a daily boarding/holding charge. We prefer for puppies to get to their families and get the chance to bond and adjust to their new lives as soon as possible!
