Hello!
We are Jonah and Hannah Kvernum, the faces behind Kvell Beagles. We are both originally from North Dakota, but currently living in Washington State as Jonah attends vet school at WSU CVM. I am lucky enough to work from home and get to spend all day with the pack who all live right in the house with us for better or worse!
Our Story
Our Beagle journey began back in high school, when we first met. Jonah had always been fascinated by purebred dogs—having grown up around gun dogs and a variety of other breeds—while I was already head over heels for my Beagles. When Jonah met them, it didn’t take long for him to agree: Beagles truly are something special. We quickly bonded over our shared love for well-bred, beautiful dogs, and soon found ourselves deep into researching kennels, bloodlines, and breeders in search of the perfect show prospect to call our own.
That dream became a reality in the summer of 2021. While on our honeymoon in Tennessee, we picked up our first show puppy, Birdie (GCH South's Birdie Flying North TKN) from the incredibly generous Rachel Southammavong of South Beagles. Despite us being total newcomers to the show world, Rachel took a chance on us, and we couldn’t have been more grateful. After our first few shows, we were absolutely hooked.

Naturally, it wasn’t long before we wanted more Beagles. We were both eager to have one to show, and we’d fully embraced the idea of becoming breeders—driven by a shared passion to promote and preserve this amazing breed we’d come to love so much. Just three months after bringing Birdie home, we were back at Rachel’s picking up our Poppy (CH South's Garden Variety TKN) and the rest is history.

We truly believe Beagles are one of the best all-around breeds. They have the confidence and character of a big dog in a perfectly compact body—ideal for adventures, yet easy to travel with. Beagles are surprisingly adaptable, more eager to please than they often get credit for, and full of personality. With their mischievous charm, endearing sense of humor, and boundless affection, they’ve brought immense joy to our lives—and we’re excited to share that joy with others.
